New DelhiIn the third One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, the legendary Indian player continued his impressive run of form by smashing a brilliant century. With little assistance available, Kohli nearly completed an almost impossible chase with his incredible hundred that broke several records.
In the series-deciding 338-run chase in Indore, the 37-year-old led India's hopes with 124 from 108 balls. But aside from Reddy and Harshit Rana, the Men in Blue lost the match by 41 runs, giving up an ODI series to New Zealand at home for the first time, and Kohli did not receive any help from the opposition.
After his outstanding performance, Kohli broke several records, including one previously held by Ricky Ponting, even though his century was in vain. Kohli now has the most runs at No. 3 in ODI cricket history after scoring 124 in the third ODI.
He was 110 runs behind Ponting going into the third match with 12552 runs in 243 innings. He now has 12676 runs in 244 innings at No. 3 after his incredible 124.
