New DelhiThe third and final One-Day International (ODI) of the current series between New Zealand and India is set to take place. On January 18, the two teams will square off at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. With the series tied, both teams will want to perform well in order to win the series.
The BCCI changed the Indian team ahead of the third and final ODI of the series by calling up Ayush Badoni to replace all-rounder Washington Sundar.
Regarding the decision, former Indian cricket player Robin Uthappa spoke up and asked why Badoni was chosen. Uthappa questioned the action and said he didn't understand it.
"I completely didn't get it. It was completely incomprehensible to me. It was totally unexpected. I even went to check his results from the Vijay Hazare Trophy and this one. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Uthappa stated, "I think he is a high-potential player, but I don't know if he is India-ready yet."
Irfan Pathan also shared his thoughts on the subject.Irfan Pathan, a former all-rounder, also shared his thoughts on the subject. He emphasized that Badoni hasn't yet had a significant influence on domestic cricket, despite having put on some respectable performances in the past.
To be honest, I was a little taken aback. I was a little taken aback. I take it that guys like Ayush Badoni haven't performed all that well? He hasn't exactly ignited domestic cricket, after all. It hasn't actually occurred in that manner. After scoring three respectable runs against Australia A and South Africa A, he took four wickets in three games during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. They likely believed that he could bat down the order and bowl a little. It was unexpected, though. It really was a surprise,β Pathan said.
