New Delhi:Former Mumbai Indians star Aditya Tare has said that the Kolkata Knight Riders will fancy their chances of making it to the playoffs after the -led side’s fourth win of the season. KKR who were languishing at the bottom of the points table for long have tasted success in their last four matches.
The 2024 champions are on a four-match winning run after going winless in six matches in a row and are hoping for a late surge into the top four. KKR are seventh in the points table with nine points, one of which came from a washed-out game with Punjab Kings.
Tare: IPL is won by teams who build momentum at business end“The tournament is won by the teams that get the success in the business end of the tournament,” said the former MI star. Teams that get momentum at the business end win the and KKR have turned their season around with back-to-back victories when it mattered the most," Tare said on JioStar.
"They've got some great match-winners and now they've started to fire as a unit. Their spin attack has come to life and given them an advantage, The pace attack is picking up wickets regularly.
"Finn Allen and Cameron Green with the bat is looking good. "They started by losing five games in a row but they have turned it around now and will fancy their chances of getting into the race for the top four," he added.
KKR flattens DC’s middle-orderPathum Nissanka gave the Capitals a good start but later the DC batting order lost their way against the KKR bowlers. The former cricketer also explained batting collapse. Delhi’s middle order crumbled under too much pressure. But their batsmen couldn’t turn the momentum back to the bowlers. The intention was clearly missing.
Such a passive passage of play is very rare in T20 cricket. A team taking 10 runs off 30 balls in the middle overs is as good as being bowled out for 120. At least try to attack and put the pressure back on the bowling side.
That was completely absent from DC's batting. Credit to Ashutosh Sharma who hit a late blinder to help Delhi salvage some respectability. Other than that it was the KKR spinners who were absolutely on top in those middle overs and never allowed the game to get away," he said.
