Colombo:India and Sri Lanka took on each other on day 2 of the ongoing second Test, and the clash saw India continue to showcase their batting prowess. Beginning the day on a score of 300/5, it was the performances of Dhruv Jurel and Rishabh Pant that stood out. While Pant departed on a score of 63 runs, Jurel went on to complete his century, hitting his second Test ton, achieving the milestonnee in 171 deliveries.
It is worth noting that Dhruv Jurel was the star of the show for the Indian team as they took centre stage on the second day of the clash. Interestingly, the visitors posted a total of 300 runs on the loss of five wickets as the first day came to a close.
Day 2 began with Pant and Jurel on strike. After Pant’s dismissal, throughout the day and helped the side post a total of 503 runs in the first innings before they declared.
Most of the second day was washed away as rain played spoiler in the clash. However, as soon as the weather subsided, the Indian team wasted no time and got to the score of 500 to put Sri Lanka under pressure.
India look to limit Sri Lanka on day 2Speaking of the game, apart from Jurel, Manav Suthar amassed 18 runs to his name. Saransh Jain departed in the early stages of the day on six runs. Sri Lanka saw Asitha Fernando be the highest wicket-taker in the first innings with four wickets to his name. Prabath Jayasuriya and Keshara Nuwantha took two wickets each, with Lahiru Kumara striking once as well.
With India limited to 503, it could be interesting to see how Sri Lanka fares with the bat. The visitors declared with one hour left of the play, and it could be interesting to see how the side fares in the final stages of the day, as they would be keen on not losing any wickets and kicking off day 3 without any loss.
